CM Vijay It is known as “Thalapathy” all over the world. The title has become a defining part of his film career and political image. What started as a screen prefix in the 1990s eventually became one of the most powerful brands in Indian cinema. Sarabana it was originalIlaya Thalapathy ‘
Reportedly, Saravanan used the title ‘Ilaya Thalapathy’ before Vijay entered the industry with the now iconic prefix. As reported by India Glitz in an interview, Saravanan recalled that the title was given to him by veteran DMK leader Veerapandi S. Arumugam in the 1990s. The honor was said to have been given at a gathering in Salem. Saravanan’s name appeared as the title in films like ‘Nallathe Nadakkum’ and ‘Sundaram Plus 2’.
Vijay took the title ‘in Rasiga ‘
Vijay first appeared as ‘Ilaya Thalapathy’ in ‘Rasigan’ directed by his father, SA Chandrasekhar. As his popularity rose, the prefix “Ilaya” was eventually dropped, leaving him with the unique title “Thalapathy”. This abbreviated version gained more prominence in films like Atlee’s ‘Mersal’.
Saravanan left gracefully
As Vijay’s association with the title grew stronger, Saravanan gradually stopped using it. Reports say that he also discussed the matter with SA Chandrasekhar. The director reportedly told her that she could continue to use the title if she remained active as a leading actress. Saravanan chose to move on so that the title could be strongly identified with Vijay.Born on October 10, 1966, Saravanan made his acting debut with ‘Vaidhehi Vanthachu’.
