Chennai Super Kings Playing a devastating seven-wicket innings in their IPL 2026 match in Lucknow on Friday.
Mitchell Marsh And a late attack
Nicholas Puran.
Chasing 188, Marsh scored 90 off just 38 balls to form a 135-run opening partnership with him. Josh Ingliskeeping the chase firmly in LSG’s control.
With Inglis playing a supporting role, Marsh dominated the CSK bowling attack from the start. He targeted Anshul Kamboj heavily, destroying him for 28 runs in an over as Lucknow reached 86 runs in the powerplay.
Marsh continued to find boundaries regularly and scored 90 off just 38 balls before CSK fought back briefly with three wickets for nine runs, including both openers.
However, Puran sealed the game in brutal fashion. After struggling initially, the left-hander hit Kamboj for four consecutive sixes to end the match in the 17th over.
Kamboj hit eight sixes in the innings to tie the IPL record for most sixes by a bowler in a single innings with Yash Dayal against KKR in Ahmedabad in 2023.
At the halfway point, CSK’s 187 for five looked competitive, but LSG’s aggressive batting made the target too small as they completed the chase with 20 balls to spare.
Earlier, Chennai recovered well from an early setback through Karthik Sharma, who scored 71 runs.
CSK were reduced to 52 for three in 7.2 overs after LSG’s bowlers used the hard lengths effectively, with Akash Singh taking three for 26.
Karthik and David Bruce put on 70 runs for the fourth wicket to restart the innings. Karthik looked uncomfortable against the short balls around chest and chin height but managed to fight back.
He first hit spinner Shehbaz Ahmed for a six, followed by another maximum and two fours in a row. Karthik then hit Mohammad Shami for a six in 35 balls to reach his fifty.
Shami eventually dismissed Bruce on a short ball which resulted in a catch by Akash Singh. Soon after, Karthik also fell, after scoring 71 off 42 balls, driving Shahbaz Ahmed straight to long-on to Aiden Markram.
Shivam Dubey then provided the late momentum with 32 off 16 balls, including a big hit in the last over bowled by Prince Yadav, who scored 23 runs.
Short Score:Chennai Super Kings: 187 for 5 in 20 overs (Karthik Sharma 71, Shivam Dubey 32 not out; Akash Singh 3/26).
Lucknow Supergiants: 188 for 3 in 16.4 overs (Mitchell Marsh 90; Mukesh Chaudhary 1/24).
