India wrapped up its campaign at the World Boxing Future Cup 2026 in Bangkok with an impressive tally of five medals – one gold, three silver and one bronze, highlighting the continued progress of the country’s youth boxing program at the world stage.The standout performance came from Chandrika Pujari, who produced a strong display to defeat Uzbekistan’s Mardunova Nazukut by a unanimous decision in the women’s 51kg final, an official release said.Competing in the Youth Olympic weight divisions, India’s U-19 men’s and women’s squads showed strong form against quality international opponents. The team put in several composed performances throughout the competition, with half of the Indian contingent finishing on the podium.The event was closely watched by World Boxing President Gennady Golovkin and Boxing Federation of India President Ajay Singh. India’s performance in Bangkok reflects the strong structure of its youth boxing system, where structured development pathways, consistent international exposure and competitive national events are helping young fighters transition smoothly to the world stage.Three Indian boxers won silver medals after reaching the finals in their respective categories. Gunjan (48kg) lost 5-0 to her English opponent in her final bout, while Joy Shridevi (54kg) put up a determined fight before losing 4-1 to the American boxer. In the men’s 50 kg division, L Ambekar Matti also settled for a silver medal after losing to his Ukrainian opponent in the final.Earlier in the tournament, Radhamani Longjam (57kg) bagged a bronze medal after her campaign came to an end after a tough match against Ukraine’s Yevan Helena Petrok in the semi-finals.The World Boxing Future Cup, held in Bangkok from March 8 to 15, brought together some of the most promising young fighters in the Youth Olympic weight categories. With the 2026 Summer Youth Olympics in Dakar approaching, the tournament served as an important platform for emerging talent, giving India’s young boxers valuable experience against top international competition as they prepare for one of the biggest events in youth sports.
