Mumbai: The IPL-2026 schedule in Assam will remain unchanged, with Guwahati on the way for Rajasthan Royals’ three-match leg. BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed to TOI after the Election Commission of India on Sunday announced the Assam elections in a single phase on April 9. According to the first 20-match schedule of IPL-2026 released by BCCI, Guwahati will host two IPL matches around the election period in the state, with RR taking on Mumbai Indians on April 7 and then Royal Challengers Bengaluru on April 10. Guwahati will also host the opening match against Rajasthan. Chennai Super Kings On March 30 “There will be no rescheduling of IPL matches in Guwahati in Assam. I have already spoken to Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam (Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma) and Guwahati Commissioner of Police Parthasarathy Mahanta. Both have assured me that they will make arrangements (to hold the matches), and (there is no need to change the schedule).” On Sunday, the ECI announced the election schedule for five polling states. Assam, Kerala and Puducherry will go to polls on April 9, Tamil Nadu on April 23, while West Bengal will go to polls in two phases – April 23 and 29. “In due course, we will announce the schedule for the remaining IPL matches. After some preliminary discussions with the respective associations (Tamil Nadu) IPL Cricket Association of Bengal Cricket Association and we will announce the Bengal League Cricket Association. However, we cannot give you a timeline. So, the IPL runs smoothly and without a hitch,” Saikia said.
