Advance bookings for “Karuppu” show high pre-release demand
‘Karuppu’ has posted impressive pre-sale numbers in Tamil Nadu. According to box office tracker Jerin Georgekutty, the film crossed Rs 1.90 crore in opening day bookings in almost 36 hours of ticket sales.
RJ Balaji shares message for fans
As several theaters suspended bookings, speculation grew about possible distribution problems. Responding to the concern, RJ Balaji posted a lively message on X on May 13.He wrote: “Dear fans, I don’t have a specific answer to the current situation. The producers are doing their best to clear the hurdles. This film has always had hurdles, and somehow God has brought us through all of that and here we are after 32 months. This time too, I have faith, full faith in Him.”
Theater owners explain suspension of ‘Karuppu’ booking
The official X account of Uma Rajendra Cinemas also responded to fans and assured them that the issue is being addressed. The post read: “Some internal issues hoping to resolve by tonight… We’ll update you as soon as we get the green light to reopen bookings!!”At the same time, Vasu cinema announced that it would not release the film. The theater posted, “Sorry Anbaana fans! Couldn’t screen #Karuppu this time. Our wishes to our dearest RJ Balaji on his directorial debut, our southern queen mother Trisha and lastly Mr Nadippin Nayagan SURIYA. May the film smash the box office. Looking forward to it.”
Vijay supports 9 am special shows
In a major push for the release, CM Vijay approved 9am special sessions for the film immediately after taking charge as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.The production house wrote, “Special thanks to our Honorable Minister Thiru. Joseph Vijay for giving special permission for 9 AM shows of #Karuppu. #Karuppu – FDFS starts at 9 AM, from 14th May A @SaiAbhyankkar Musical.”
