PriyadarshanHorror comedy ‘Bhooth Bangla’ starring Akshay Kumar in the lead, is all set to hit theaters next month. Before the premiere, the filmmaker spoke about the film’s lead actor. He stated that the story has no logic without Tabu’s character and praised Rajpal Yadav’s comedy.
Priyadarshan says “Bhooth Bangla” is illogical without Tabu’s character
Priyadarshan has worked with Tabu in several films. Talking about ‘Bhooth Bangla’, the filmmaker told Mid-Day that she looks beautiful in this film as well. He said, “It looks as beautiful as in Virasat (1997). Without Tabu’s character, there is no logic in the story.For those who don’t know, Priyadarshan and Tabu have collaborated in films like ‘Kaalapani’ (1996), ‘Virasat’ (1997), ‘Hera Pheri’ (2000) and ‘Snegithiye’ (2000).Talking about Rajpal Yadav, Priyadarshan said, “He is fun in the film and a character you will remember.” When the filmmaker was asked if he had any plans for a sequel, he said, “Maybe Ekta (Kapoor) can take it forward.”
Comparing Priyadarshan to ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’
In the same interaction, Priyadarshan also addressed the comparison of ‘Bhooth Bangla’ to ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’. Talking about the same, he said that the upcoming horror comedy is “being done on a bigger scale”. The filmmaker added that people will “smile, and then the wonder will set in. The climate is one of the greatest endings ever shot on a big screen.”

The film marks the reunion of Priyadarshan and Akshay Kumar after more than 15 years. Their last film together was ‘Khatta Meetha’ which released in July 2010. The lead cast of ‘Bhooth Bangla’ includes Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal, Tabu, Wamiqa Gabbi, Jisshu Sengupta, Rajpal Yadav, Mithila Palkar, Rajesh Sharma and late Asrani. The movie will hit theaters on April 10, 2026.
