PSEB Class 12 Result 2026 declared: Girls outperform boys by 6.21%, Commerce stream tops with 98.78% pass rate

The Punjab School Education Board has announced the results of the 12th class March 2026 examination. A total of 2,65,417 students appeared for the examination out of which 2,42,755 cleared the examination, making the overall pass ratio 91.46. The results reflect the strong overall performance of students across the state.The pass percentage of girls was higher than that of boys in senior secondary examination. The pass percentage of girls was 94.73% while that of boys was 88.52%. All six transgender candidates who appeared for the exam passed, resulting in a 100 per cent pass percentage in the category.Overall performance is better than last year.The board has recorded a slight increase in the overall result compared to the previous academic session. The overall pass ratio in 2024-25 was 91.00, while in 2025-26 the number increased to 91.46.

The number of candidates placed in the compartment stood at 17,495, which is 6.59% of the total number of candidates who appeared. A total of 5,109 students failed the exam, while the results of 58 were withheld.

Girls outperformed boys in board exams.Across gender categories, girls maintained the same success ratio. Out of 1,25,695 girls, 1,19,073 passed the exam. Among boys, 1,23,676 students cleared the exam out of 1,39,716 candidates.Candidates from rural areas registered marginally better performance than candidates from urban areas. The pass percentage of rural schools was recorded at 91.63, while that of urban areas was 91.24%.The pass percentage of government schools was 91.41. Non-government schools recorded the highest pass rate in the school category at 92.68 per cent, while aided schools achieved 88.44 per cent.

The results for commerce and science streams are highest.Commerce stream had the highest pass percentage among regular candidates at 98.78%. Science followed closely with 98.47 percent. The pass ratio in humanities and vocational streams is less than 88%.

Students get full marks in state merit list. Sukhneet Kaur of Government Adarsh ​​Senior Secondary School, Boha, Mansa district secured 500 out of 500 marks in the science stream and emerged among the state toppers in the PSEB Class XII examination. Sohani Chauhan of BCM Senior Secondary School, Jamalpur Colony, Ludhiana and Devanshi of Teja Singh Sutantar Memorial Senior Secondary School, Shimlapuri, Ludhiana also secured perfect marks out of 500 in Humanities stream.

Swapandeep Kaur Sidhu from Bathanda secured 494 marks, while Nitika Kapur from Amritsar and Gurpreet Kaur from Faridkot secured 493 marks in their respective district merit list.
