The actor, best known for playing Ethan Hunt in the long-running action franchise, is said to be circling an original film titled ‘Doppelgänger’. The project has not been officially confirmed with Cruise yet, but the reported talks have attracted attention as it could return to spy stories after ‘Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning’ in 2025.According to Jeff Sneider of TheInSneider, Cruise is said to be meeting with the writer Aneesh Chaganty About starring in ‘Doppelgänger’. The report says the deal is not final. Deadline reported in June 2025 that Skydance had acquired the rights to the project.
