Reader discretion is advised.The Malayalam Movie Artists Association has taken action following a workplace harassment complaint filed by office worker Athulya against treasurer Unni Sivapal.Reportedly, AMMA President Shweta Menon said that the decision to terminate Athulya’s work has been withdrawn. He also confirmed that the executive committee of the organization has decided to place Unni Sivapal on leave while the matter is being addressed.
Athulya approaches the police and labor authority
Mathrubhumi News reported that Athulya, who worked in the front office, approached the Kochi City Police alleging that Unni Sivapal was mentally harassing her.He also alleged that he was fired from his job after filing a complaint against him. In addition to the complaint to the police, he has also appealed to the Labor Office for action.According to Athulya, the alleged harassment continued for a long time and affected him during and after office hours.
Detailed allegations against Unni Sivapal
Speaking to the media, Athulya alleged that Unni Sivapal was treating employees with what he described as a “master-servant mentality”.“Kukku Parameswaran conducted my interview. From the next day after I joined, the treasurer started talking to me as if he didn’t like me. Later on, he used to get arguments every day for one reason or another. When I got angry, he would portray me as someone with mental health problems. He would blame me for his mistakes and present me like that. I went back to work hours and kept on regular meetings. Sending WhatsApp messages and calling me at home. I have proof of messages being sent in the middle of the night,” said Athulya.
Allegations against Kukku Parameswaran
Athulya also alleged that he informed AMMA general secretary Kukku Parameswaran about his difficulties but was advised to cooperate with the treasurer.He said the general secretary told him that if he chose to file a complaint, he should not continue working there. According to Athulya, his dismissal was a decision taken in favor of the treasurer.However, no action has been taken against Kukku Parameswaran. Shweta Menon said that the executive committee had only discussed the issue of Unni Sivapal and Athulya.
Having explained the delay, Ansiba Hassan’s resignation has been accepted
When media asked why no action was taken earlier despite repeated complaints, Shweta Menon said that such matters are handled by the executive committee.He explained that the delay happened because the committee itself was delayed.In another development, Shweta Menon confirmed that the resignation of AMMA joint secretary Ansiba Hassan has been accepted. The actor submitted his resignation on February 21.According to Shweta Menon, the ‘Drishyam 3’ actress resigned due to personal reasons.
