The excitement is building around Mohanlalupcoming ‘Drishyam 3’, producers Kumar Mangat Pathak and Abhishek Pathak have now talked about how. Ajay Devgn‘s Hindi adaptation will be different from the Malayalam original. The authors also discussed their growing involvement in Malayalam cinema and why they believe regional storytelling has greater global appeal today.Producer Kumar Mangat Pathak revealed that the group’s interest in Malayalam films started during the blockade era. According to him, binge-watching of industry films made them realize how unique and content-driven Malayalam cinema had become. Speaking to ANI, he shared, “When the lockdown started, we watched a lot of Malayalam films. We realized that the content there is very good. Various types of films are made and appreciated there.“He further explained that the production house spent almost a year and a half studying the industry before officially entering Malayalam cinema. “After that, our entire team sat together and did research for a year and a half. We met people and writers. Then we planned everything and presented Panorama,” said Kumar Mangat.He also credited producer Mohanlal, Antony Perumbavoor and Jacob for helping shape the collaboration. The producer added that Panorama Studios has multiple Malayalam projects in the pipeline apart from ‘Drishyam 3’.
Ajay Devgn’s ‘Drishyam 3’ is expected on October 2
Abhishek Pathak also gave an update on the Hindi version starring Ajay Devgn. He revealed that the makers are eyeing the October 2nd release date, which has been heavily linked to the franchise over the years. “‘Drishyam 3’ is releasing on October 2. It is Drishyam day, the date associated with the film. I think the Hindi version of the film will be released on that date. We are currently preparing for it. It’s in post-production,” he said.The date has become iconic among fans of the franchise due to its recurring importance in the story.
Why the Hindi version will feel different
While both the versions start from the same narrative point where “Drishyam 2” ended, Abhishek Pathak revealed that the Hindi adaptation will have several changes in terms of script and storytelling style. “You will understand the difference only when you watch the Hindi trailer,” he said while hinting at some notable changes.Elaborating further, Abhishek added, “The Malayalam version is more of a family drama. As Jeethu Joseph told us at the launch, the story is very good for the Malayalam audience, and they will love it.” However, the makers feel that the Hindi audience would prefer a different cinematic treatment.“Our Hindi audience has a different taste and palate. We made changes in ‘Drishyam 2’ too, and the audience appreciated them. We have also made changes in the story and script of this episode, and the audience will notice the difference”, he explained.

The “Drishyam” franchise revolves around Georgekutty and his family, whose life turns into chaos after the disappearance of a senior police officer’s son. The first Malayalam film was released in 2013 and was a huge success due to its gripping suspense and layered storytelling. Its sequel, ‘Drishyam 2’, arrived in 2021 and received praise from audiences and critics alike.The popularity of the franchise eventually led to its remake in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and several other languages.
