Tamil Nadu Class 12 Result 2026: Girls outperform boys with 97% pass rate

The Tamil Nadu Directorate of Government Examinations (DGE) has declared the Tamil Nadu Class 12th Results 2026, with girls once again outperforming boys in the higher secondary examinations. According to official data, in Tamil Nadu’s HSE+2 examinations 2026, girls have passed 97 per cent, while boys have registered 93.19 per cent. The performance gap between girls and boys widened to 3.81 percent this year, from 3.54 percent in 2025. The Tamil Nadu Class 12 board exams were held from March 2 to March 26, 2026 across 3,412 examination centers in the state. A total of 7,91,654 students appeared in the HSE +2 examinations this year. Of these, 7,53,694 students passed, the overall pass percentage being 95.20%. Last year, the overall pass percentage stood at 95.03 percent, showing a marginal improvement in 2026. Girls not only led in pass percentage but also in overall participation. Around 4,18,724 girls appeared in the examination while the number of boys was 3,72,930. In terms of successful candidates, 4,06,167 girls cleared the exam, while 3,47,527 boys cleared the Tamil Nadu 12th exams 2026. The gender-based performance trend was also significant across school categories. 97.08% pass rate was achieved in girls’ schools, while 90.49% in boys’ schools. Co-educational schools had an overall pass percentage of 95.30%. The Tamil Nadu HSE +2 results 2026 also showed that girls maintained strong academic performance across districts and school types, reinforcing a trend seen consistently in state board examinations in recent years.
