Shah Rukh Khan‘Kartavya’ production, lead Saif Ali KhanIt will air on OTT from 15th May 2026 onwards. Recently, the makers unveiled the trailer at an event in Mumbai on Thursday and received a positive response from the audience.
‘Kartavya’ plot and central conflict
The trailer shows a story where duty, power and personal issues are closely intertwined. Saif plays Pawan Malik, a police officer who comes under pressure after a journalist is shot while in his custody. As he is interrogated by higher-ups, he becomes embroiled in a dangerous manhunt that uncovers a web of lies and influence. At the same time, his family faces threats due to an issue involving his brother, adding to his own struggles. The trailer highlights a tense narrative where the protagonist, a devout ‘Mahadev ka bhakt’, has to navigate a web of political influence and personal betrayal, forcing him to choose between his professional oath and family safety.

According to ANI, Saif spoke about the film and said, “Pawan is a man who is constantly negotiating with himself between what he thinks is right, what is expected of him and what he needs to protect. What drew me to Kartavya is that it doesn’t offer easy answers; it puts you in uncomfortable spaces and forces you to wonder what you would do when you work with Pulkit’s personal choice. It’s even more compelling and exciting.” It has been particularly exciting to collaborate with Red Chillies Entertainment for the first time on a project as layered as Kartavya”.
