Cricket Australia has confirmed that its players will be allowed to complete. Indian Premier League Commitments ahead of joining the national squad for the upcoming ODI series against PakistanAccording to Curicbuzz, the Australian players currently involved in the IPL will “still remain in the IPL and fulfill their commitments”, despite the bilateral ODI series going into the final stages of the tournament.This clarification came after Cricket Australia and Pakistan Cricket Board jointly announced a three-match ODI series in Pakistan scheduled on May 30, June 2 and June 4. The Australian players are expected to arrive in Islamabad on May 23, which coincides with the IPL playoff period. The final of IPL 2026 is scheduled for May 31. Many leading Australian cricketers are currently participating in the IPL, including the captain. Pat Cummins and stand-in ODI captain Mitchell Marsh. Other Australians in the tournament include Travis Head, Tim David, Josh Hazlewood, Xavier Bartlett, Cooper Connolly, Marcus Stoins, Josh Inglis, Cameron Green, Mitchell Starc and Matthew Short.
While the IPL league phase ends on May 24, many Australian players may stay longer in India if their franchises qualify for the playoffs. Teams like Sunrisers Hyderabad, Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru are currently among the top contenders for the knockout stage. Officials from both the franchises confirmed to Crackbuzz that their overseas players, including the Australian, will fulfill their IPL contracts and will not walk out midway through the season.Cricket Australia is yet to announce its squad for the Pakistan ODIs, and there is a possibility that the selection may be adjusted to avoid clashing with IPL play-off commitments. The upcoming ODI series will mark Australia’s first bilateral ODI tour of Pakistan since 2022. Earlier this year, Australia toured Pakistan for a T20I series in January-February, with the hosts winning the three-match series 3-0 in Lahore.
