The 74-year-old Welsh singer is recovering after the procedure, and his manager has confirmed the operation was a success.“Bonnie has been admitted to a hospital in Faro, Portugal, where she lives, for emergency bowel surgery,” manager Matt Davis said in a statement to USA Today. “The surgery went well and he is now on the mend. We know all his family, friends and fans will be worried about this news and wish him a full and speedy recovery.”

Born Gaynor Sullivan in Wales, Tyler first burst onto the international music scene in the late 1970s with songs such as ‘It’s a Heartache’ and ‘Lost in France’. The news comes as a surprise, considering Tyler spoke positively about his health a few months ago. In an interview with Hello! magazine published on March 2, said that he was “fairly fit at the moment” and that he was “really enjoying doing the shows”.“I’m still on that stage with my amazing team, and if you’ve got your health, you’ve got everything,” he told the outlet. “I do Pilates at home, just 20 minutes a day, it’s something I can do in my hotel room.”He noted at the time that his biggest concern was the condition of his knees, although he described the cleaning procedure as “very successful” and hoped it would last for a long time.Tyler had international shows scheduled between May 22 and December, though it remains to be seen how his recovery will affect those commitments.
