BPSC 72nd CCE 2026: Bihar Public Service Commission has released notification for 72nd Common Preliminary Competitive Examination 2026 with revised vacancy count and application schedule for recruitment in state departments. The notice issued on May 5, 2026 confirmed that online applications will open from May 7, 2026 and will continue till May 31, 2026 for eligible graduates.This follows the Corrigendum to bring down the total posts from 1230 to 1186 post withdrawal of 44 sugarcane officer posts, which were redeployed under separate rules. The examination covers administrative, police, revenue and development services in the Government of Bihar for which graduates from recognized universities are eligible.Vacancy details
Application Schedule and FeesThe online application process starts from today and will be active till 31st May 2026 through the official website of BPSC. Candidates have to pay the application fee. 100 online for all categories, while non-Aadhaar holders will have to pay an additional biometric charge of Rs. 200 as per instructions.Eligibility and Age CriteriaCandidates must have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a recognized university, while certain posts such as financial administrative officers require a background in commerce, mathematics, statistics or economics. The age limit for general male candidates is 20 to 37 years, 40 years for women and backward classes and 42 years for SCST categories as on 1st August 2026.Selection Process and Exam PatternThe selection will be done in two stages, preliminary examination and main examination with interview. The preliminary test consists of 150 objective questions of two hours duration with one-third negative marking for each wrong answer, with compulsory option marking for unattempted questions. Shortlisting will be ten times the number of vacancies for Mains Examination.The main examination consists of General Hindi qualifying paper, two papers of General Studies, Essay paper and MCQ of optional subject, the marks of which are not counted for merit in the total list of optional section.
