Audiences have taken issue with a line in Pattinson’s Antinous telling Telemachus: “You’re looking for a father you never knew.” Even Holland’s Telemachus has a line that says, “My father is coming home.” Not only did the interviews raise eyebrows, but fans of the book slam the Americanization of the story.“The new trailer for The Odyssey looks absolutely stunning. Christopher Nolan has left no stone unturned and is a master of visuals. My only concern is Tom Holland’s character: ‘My father is coming home.’ Come on, Spidey, this is supposed to be an old movie,” wrote one user.Another commented: “Anyone else thinks the dialogue in The Odyssey trailer is all over the place. You have some characters speaking in a Shakespearean tone, while another drops the line ‘my father will return’ which sounds so out of place.”A third viewer added: “I’m withholding judgment on Nolan’s odyssey because I’ve enjoyed the visuals so far, but hearing Tom Holland say ‘my daddy’s coming home’ took me too far, if I can take it back.”Some reactions also questioned the historical tone of the language. “‘Dad’ in the late Bronze Age?? Mycenaean Greece wasn’t the making of TikTok interviews…but Nolan’s Odyssey might convince some people otherwise,” read one post, while another noted: “Interesting Nolan goes with dad and dad instead of dad.”Despite the criticism, many viewers recognized the impressive scale of the film. “Odyssey dialogue is hilarious and tom holland telemachus saying ‘daddy’ pissed me off bad but the movie looks so awesome I can’t be mad,” wrote one user. The film based on the ancient Greek epic remains one of Nolan’s most anticipated projects of the year. The film has a star-studded cast including Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Zendaya and Charlize Theron.
