No Pakistani players fined for being out of T20 World Cup: PCB

The Pakistan Cricket Board on Saturday rejected reports that claimed that the members PakistanThe ICC Men’s T20 World Cup squad was fined for failing to reach the semi-finals of the tournament.PCB spokesperson Aamir Mir dismissed reports circulating in some sections of the media that financial penalties had been imposed on the players.

“No player has been fined but yes the board is thinking of working out a formula for the players as they get a lot of incentives when they perform well,” Mir told reporters here.Mir added that Pakistani players currently earn around PKR 6-7 crore, and the board is exploring ways to link accountability more closely with performance.“But nothing is final and no player has been fined,” he added.Some reports claimed that each Pakistani player was fined Rs 50 lakh after the team crashed out of the global event without making it to the last four.Pakistani cricketers receive a central contract that includes match fees with monthly retainers, tour payments and bonuses for victories in various formats.Apart from these earnings, the players also get a share from the logo sponsorship deals secured by the board.It was also agreed last year that the players would receive three per cent of the annual revenue that the PCB receives from the International Cricket Council, which is estimated to be around US$34 million annually.
