Veteran actor Saira Banu had a delightful visitor recently – a dream girl from Hindi cinema, Hema Malini. The latter visited him at home, creating a wave of nostalgia for the golden age of Bollywood. Saira Banu took to Instagram to share glimpses of the reunion and penned a very personal note that has moved fans for generations.
Saira Banu visiting Hema Malini
Saira Banu shared a picture with Hema Malini on her social media. Recalling the joy of seeing the ‘Baghban’ actor again, Saira Banu wrote on Instagram, “It doesn’t feel like so long that Hema came to see me at my house, accompanied by her cousin Prabha… and yet when I heard she was coming again… my heart was happy.”The moment Hema Malini walked in, time seemed to go backwards for Saira Banu. “When she came in, she looked gorgeous, and at that moment I was transported back to the first time I met her in 1966, on the sets of Deewana with Raj Kapoor. Even then, I remember being mesmerized by her beauty; there are no words as true as the truth,” he wrote.Saira Bano’s post also harkened back to the quieter and more intimate times the two actresses shared. She further added, “Then we met again, and I think my thoughts returned fondly to the days at Krishna Raj Sagar Dam. Our rooms were next to each other, which meant that our days were naturally shared. We sat for hours on the veranda, talking about everything that came to mind, beauty, skin care, small routines, matters that were so delicate and so important then. Our mothers were also with us, and often joined in, adding something wiser, more stable to our easy, careless conversations.”
Tribute to Saira Banu Dharmendra and its connection Dilip Kumar
The post also made a touching reference to the late Dilip Kumar and his relationship with Dharmendra. He said, “And somewhere in those thoughts, I was thinking of Dharmendra ji, of his warmth, of the sincerity with which he held his love. His love and respect for Dilip sahib was something he never had to express; it was understood in the way he spoke about him, with a respect that came from somewhere very deep.“The coming together of two of Bollywood’s most beloved icons has touched many hearts as a beautiful reminder of the grace, connection and legacy of the golden age of Hindi cinema.
