Janek Sner continued his dominant run in men’s tennis by beating Alexander Xavierio in straight sets to win the Madrid Open title on Sunday. The world No. 1 cruised to a comfortable 6-1, 6-2 victory and made history by becoming the first player to win five consecutive ATP Masters 1000 titles. The Italian star looked in complete control during the final and did not allow Zverev a single break point during the match. The junior has now beaten the German nine times in a row in ATP meetings and has dropped just two sets in his incredible run to the title, which includes wins in Paris last year and Indian Wells, Miami, Monte Carlo and Madrid in 2026.After the victory, Sinner said the achievement was the result of years of hard work, discipline and sacrifice. He admits that staying at the top requires constant hard work and understands that tough times are a natural part of the game.“I think there’s a lot of work behind it. I put in a lot of dedication and sacrifice every day. Obviously, seeing these results, it means a lot to me,” Sinner said, according to the ATP website. The 24-year-old also spoke about the importance of confidence and having the right people around you. He said he is focused on improving every day in training and credits his team with helping them maintain their high standards.“I’m very happy that I kept believing in myself. I’m trying to do the right thing every day, in every practice session, with the right discipline. To do that, you need the right team behind you, which I have. I’m very happy about myself, but also the team, and it means a lot to all of us.”
