Since April, Kannada superstar Yash has been delving into one of the most demanding shooting stretches of his career, shooting the inner world of Ravana. Nitesh Tiwari‘Ramayana: Part Two’. Reports reveal that the sequences are written as long monologues, designed to make the audience understand the villain before judging them.
Yash Films ‘Ramayana Part 2’
According to Mid-Day report, since the beginning of April, the shoot at Film City, Goregaon has been completely focused on Yash. The sequences are said to explore Ravana’s inner psychology, his reasoning, his worldview and the beliefs that drive his actions. This is a deliberate creative choice by director Nitesh Tiwari to present Ravana as a fully fleshed out character rather than the usual mythological villain. The report said, “These are not typical crime scenes. They are written as extended monologues, almost like Ravana is reasoning with himself. The idea is to make the audience understand how he sees the world before judging his actions.”
The importance of sequences
Director Nitesh Tiwari seems to be taking more time with these episodes because he understands that the emotional impact of the entire second half depends on whether the audience connects with Ravana’s point of view. The writing, according to the report, doesn’t try to soften or reclaim the character, it just makes it listenable. The report added, “If the audience doesn’t connect with Ravana here, the impact of everything that follows is diluted. The writing doesn’t try to soften him, but presents his point of view.”
