Delhi University has officially postponed the Post Graduate (PG) and Professional Semester Examinations which were scheduled to be held between May 20 and May 25, 2026. According to an official notification issued by the university administration, the decision announced on May 1 has been attributed to “unavoidable circumstances”.This move affects a large number of students enrolled in various advanced and special education programs. However, the university has clarified that the revision is strictly limited to this six-day window, and no other changes have been made to the existing exam calendar.

Only a specific window is affected.

According to the examination wing of the university, only the papers scheduled between May 20 and May 25 have been postponed. The examinations scheduled before 20 May and after 25 May 2026 will continue as per the original date sheet without any change.The university has stressed that the rest of the exam structure remains intact, with the aim of reducing the barrier for students across all disciplines.

Fresh schedule under preparation

After the adjournment, all the concerned academic departments have been directed to immediately start working on the revised date sheets of the affected papers. The university has directed that the rescheduling process should be done with “reasonable care” to avoid conflicts, academic overlap, or logistical complications.Officials have said that the revised timetable will be finalized only after careful review and approval at the management level.

Advice for students

Students are advised to check the regular examination portal — exam.du.ac.in — for the latest updates and revised schedule. University has confirmed that after approval all notifications and latest pdf date sheets will be uploaded there.Students enrolled under Non-Collegiate Women’s Education Board (NCWEB) and School of Open Learning (SOL) are also directed to monitor their respective portals for course specific examination updates.

The reason was not disclosed.

While the university has cited “unavoidable circumstances” for the postponement, it has not given a detailed explanation behind the decision. The lack of specifics has left the reason open, although officials have maintained that the move was necessary for administrative reasons.The university is expected to release the revised schedule in the coming days after reviewing and finalizing the departmental submissions.
