Department of Commerce Recruitment 2026: Department of Commerce, Government of India has invited applications for the recruitment of Young Professionals, Associates, Consultants and Senior Consultants on contract basis.Applications will be submitted online through the official portal of the Department of Commerce during the specified cycles in May, August, November and February, there is no need to submit the hard copy.Application and recruitment timeline

Streams and Eligibility CriteriaApplications are open for Economics, Legal, General Management and Data Science streams.• For Economics, candidates should have Masters in Economics preferably with International Trade.• Legal applicants require LLM or LLB with Post Graduate Diploma in any legal subject.• General Management requires MBA or equivalent up to 100 or Masters in Public Policy, International Affairs or International Trade from NIRF rated institutions.• Data Science Candidates should have B.Tech, BE, MCA or Masters in Data Science, Data Analytics or Computational Mathematics.Age limit and experience requirementsThe upper age limit is 35 years for Young Professionals, 45 years for Associates, 50 years for Consultants and 65 years for Senior Consultants. One year of experience is required for a Young Professional, three years for an Associate, eight years for a Consultant and fifteen years or more for a Senior Consultant.Vacancies across streams

Selection process and application cycleShortlisting will be limited to three times the number of vacancies in each stream and position. Only shortlisted candidates will be called for interview round by Department of Commerce. Applications will be submitted through the Commerce Department’s recruitment portal, no hard copy required.Terms of engagement and working conditionsThe monthly remuneration will be as per departmental guidelines subject to statutory deductions, without any additional allowances or facilities. Hours of work are 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM weekdays, with possible additional duties. One and a half days leave per month is admissible with prior approval, without carrying forward unused leave.Selected consultants must comply with the Official Secrets Act of 1923 and maintain the confidentiality of all official information. The engagement may be terminated with 30 days’ notice or immediately for non-performance or misconduct. Hard copy applications are not required for the submission process.
