UGC NET June 2026: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has opened the online application portal for the UGC NET June 2026 exam. As per the public notice issued by the agency, the registration process started on April 29, 2026.The UGC NET is conducted to determine the eligibility of Indian nationals for Junior Research Fellowships, appointment as Assistant Professors and admission to PhD programs in universities and colleges across India. The examination will be conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode for 85 subjects.Important Dates for UGC NET June 2026

Application Process and Eligibility CriteriaCandidates need to apply only through online mode on NTA official website. Submission of application form by any other mode will not be accepted. Only one application is allowed per candidate.Applicants should carefully follow the instructions provided in the information bulletin available on the official portal. Failure to follow prescribed guidelines may result in disqualification.The examination serves three purposes: eligibility for Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professorship, eligibility for Assistant Professorship and admission to PhD, and admission to PhD only.Application Fee and Important InstructionsThe application fee is fixed at Rs. 1150 for general category candidates. 600 for General-EWS and OBC-NCL candidates, and Rs. 325 for SC, ST, PwD, and third gender applicants.Candidates are advised to provide a valid email address and mobile number, as all communications from NTA will be sent through registered contact details. The agency has also enabled registration through Single Sign-On Service My Identity to simplify the application process.Applicants are encouraged to use Aadhaar verification to facilitate registration and examination procedures. No change in application details will be allowed after final submission.Exam details and supportThe examination will be held at various centres, with date, shift and venue details mentioned on the admit card.
