Madalsa Sharma she talked about feminism, marriage and family dynamics in a recent chat, revealing what it’s like to help in the home, especially from her husband. Mahaakshay Chakraborty and father-in-law Mithun Chakraborty—has shaped both his personal and professional life.Talking about how feminism is practiced in her daily life, Madalsa emphasized that it starts at home.“Touch wood, everyone is very knowledgeable and very supportive about it. Basically, it gives me all the freedom because they understand: my in-laws, my father-in-law, my mother-in-law… they’re all very chilled and supportive,” she told Haterrfly.
“What I did after marriage is because of Mimoh”
The actress acknowledged that her husband was her biggest pillar of support, especially given the demanding nature of her television work.“After marriage, whatever work I have done, it has only been because of Mimoh. She has been very supportive. Shootings are late, packages are delayed… otherwise it is difficult. With daily soaps, you have to be on set for long hours every day. She has been very, very supportive,” she shared.
“Television gave me more recognition than cinema”
Remembering the tips Mithun ChakrabortyHow Madalsa encouraged him to take up television.“He was the first person who told me, ‘Mithhi’, whenever a television opportunity comes, you have to go for it because television has a very wide audience. The kind of fame and recognition I got after Anupama, I didn’t get even after doing 20-22 films,” he said.
“He doesn’t believe in stereotypes at all”
When asked if Mithun Chakraborty can be called a male feminist, Madalsa did not hesitate.“1000%. Absolutely. She doesn’t believe in these stereotypes – that a woman has to dress a certain way, walk a certain way, get married at a certain age, have children at a certain age or change after marriage. Not at all. She’s the complete opposite,” she said.
“No pressure to have children ‘
Madalsa also addressed the issue of social and family pressure.“No, touch wood, there hasn’t been any pressure. It’s a couple’s personal choice. Nobody has ever pressured us. This freedom has always been there, whenever you’re comfortable, you can think,” he said, adding that this pressure can be “very difficult to manage”.
“It was fate, we didn’t even meet much”
Opening up about his love story, the actor revealed that his relationship with Mimoh developed unexpectedly.“We met years ago at an event, just a quick hello. We stayed in touch as friends, and then reconnected almost 10 years later. When the time is right, things just happen,” he said.“We weren’t really dating. We’re going to get married. Our courtship was barely a month or two, then we got engaged, and six months later we were married. I wasn’t even expecting it, it felt like fate,” she added.
“We believe in keeping it private”
Despite being public figures, the couple prefers to keep their relationship out of the limelight.“We believe in keeping a very low profile. We make reels and click pictures, but when it comes to putting on a PDA or everything, we don’t believe in that. It’s a very private matter, and we like to keep it between us,” Madalsa said.Summing up her equation at home, she reiterated, “It’s only because Mimoh has been so supportive – that really makes a difference.”
