after the death of Karisma KapoorEx-husband Sunjay Kapur, their children Samaira and Kiaan filed a legal case against his widowed wife Priya Sachdev. Priya has been accused of forging Sunjay’s will. Her mother Rani Kapur is also fighting a legal case against Priya. As of the latest update, Delhi High Court on Thursday granted interim relief to Karisma Kapoor’s children, barring stepmother Priya Sachdev Kapur from creating any third-party rights over late industrialist Sunjay Kapur’s property. For those who don’t know, Priya Kapur, who married Sunjay after his divorce from Karisma, is his widow when he died in 2025.According to the Bar and Bench, after hearing the case, Justice Jyoti Singh observed that questions had arisen regarding the authenticity of the will allegedly left by Sunjay. Karisma Kapoor and Sunjay’s mother, Rani Kapur, has expressed their doubts, and the onus has been put on Priya Kapur to address these concerns. Considering that the validity of the will will be examined during the trial, the Court emphasized the need to preserve the heritage in the meantime. As his judge instructed, “Estates should not be squandered. Assets should be preserved,” the Court said, adding that a prima facie case had been made out to justify interim protection. As part of its order, the Court prohibited Priya Kapoor from alienating, transferring, seizing or changing the shareholding structure of Sunjay’s Indian companies. Justice Singh further said, “I have restricted him from withdrawing the provident fund amount, something he has agreed to. I have also ruled out the alienation of personal effects, works of art, etc., which was also accepted.”The court also restricted withdrawals from certain bank accounts. “I have ordered the withdrawal, retention and acceptance of funds from three bank accounts in two banks in India to the extent of settlement of liabilities to the children, in the divorce proceedings between the deceased and the children’s mother,” Justice Singh added. Additionally, the operation of Sunjay Kapur’s foreign bank accounts and cryptocurrencies has been stopped. However, the Court clarified that this limit does not extend to immovable property located abroad. The dispute stems from allegations by Karisma Kapoor’s children that Priya Kapur, Sunjay’s third wife, forged the will in an attempt to gain full control of his estate. Karisma and Sunjay were married from 2003 to 2016 and have two children together.Represented by their mother, the children approached the Court to assert that they had been unfairly excluded from their father’s estate following his sudden death in the UK in June 2025.The legal proceedings name Priya Kapur, her minor son, Rani Kapur, and the executor of the will, Shradha Suri Marwah, as defendants. At the heart of the case is a will dated March 21, 2025, which allegedly leaves Sunjay Kapur’s entire personal estate to Priya Kapur. The children have further alleged that their stepmother, along with two members Dinesh Agarwal and Nitin Sharma, deliberately withheld the will for more than seven weeks, presenting it only in a family meeting held on July 30, 2025.
