While earlier talk pointed to generic creative differences, a new report sheds more light on what might have caused the divide.According to Free Press Journal, Ranveer who is currently riding high on the success of his ‘Dhurandhar’ franchise, was keen to give Don a more intense edge. He is said to have pushed for the introduction of “strong language”, saying the character “would have to change his DNA to match the tone of today’s audiences”.Farhan, however, was not on the same page. The filmmaker was adamantly against the inclusion of “strong language” in the narrative, saying that previous iterations of Don had not been subject to such elements. He is said to have pointed out that the version was also corrected Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan avoid excessive profanity. Insiders suggest that he was unwilling to bow to outside pressure, with a source saying, “Farhan really wanted to do the film he wanted to do in the beginning.”Recently, Farhan broke his silence on the ‘Don 3’ row amid the legal battle. Almost till 2022, which is 22-23 years, I’ve had the most incredible ride.”“It’s been working with people that I want to work with, directing or acting in films that I want to act in with directors. So it’s been amazing. And you realize that there’s going to be a time when it’s going to be a little bit harder. You’ve had a good time. So it’s okay, just take it,” he added. Ranveer eventually left the project in 2025, and the disagreement became public amid reports of scripting issues and delays. Additionally, Excel Entertainment was reported to have sought €40 million in damages, citing pre-production costs, schedule interruptions and other related losses. The production house claimed that a major part of the work was completed with Ranveer’s permission, and the actor has reportedly agreed to refund part of the amount.
