'Michael' box office collection Day 6: Jaafar Jackson starrer eyes Rs 30 crore in Week 1 ahead of 'The Devil Wears Prada 2', 'Raja Shivaji' and 'Ek Din' clash

‘Michael’, starring Jaafar Jackson as the late King of Pop, has continued steadily as it nears the end of its first week at the Indian box office. On Day 6, the film collected a total of around 2.30 crores from 2,722 shows. Although the film saw a marginal drop of 4.2% from Tuesday’s collection of 2.40 crore, it managed to keep its collection above the 2 crore mark amid stiff competition from films like ‘Dhurandhar 2’ and ‘Bhooth Bangla’.With this, the film’s net collections in India have reached approximately 23.45 crores and its gross collections are approximately 28.07 crores. It remains to be seen if the film’s ability to maintain a consistent weekday trend can take its first week collection beyond 30 crore gross. The biographical drama, which has already emerged as one of Hollywood’s strongest performers in April, has managed to hold on to its spot despite stiff competition from debutants like Akshay Kumar’s ‘Bhooth Bangla’ and Ranveer Sigh’s ‘Dhurandhar 2’.However, the film will face new competition from May 1 as several new releases enter the market. Among them is Marathi film ‘Raja Shivaji’, a historical epic that will capitalize on regional appeal and the Maharashtra Day holiday. Early trends suggest Hindi opening in the Rs 2-3 crore range.Entering the ring is ‘Ek Din’, backed by Aamir Khan’s banner and starring Junaid Khan alongside Sai Pallavi. The romantic drama is expected to open between 1-2 crores.Internationally, ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ will also open, with reports indicating a strong opening weekend of US$65-80 million in North America, and the film’s collection from international markets is expected to fetch an additional US$100 million.
