Steven Tyler has scored a major victory in a case involving the sexual assault of a minor, after a California judge dismissed most of the claims against him.In the lawsuit, Julia Holcomb claims she had a years-long relationship with the Aerosmith frontman, which began when she was just 16 years old. Holcomb filed her lawsuit in California and made several other claims about the sexual encounter in several states.However, according to court documents cited by TMZ, the judge dismissed all other claims and ruled that the only claim related to an alleged incident in California can go forward. The lawsuit alleges that Tyler and Holcomb had sex during a 1974 trip to California, including at a hotel and in a public bathtub, when she was still a minor.Tyler’s attorney, David Long-Daniels, said in a statement that the ruling was a decisive victory. He said: “This is a huge win for Steven Tyler. Today, the court has dismissed 99.9% of the claims against Mr. Tyler in this case. The court has determined that only one night remains from a three-year relationship over fifty years ago. We look forward to hearing this case on August 31st.”In other states, including Massachusetts and Oregon, claims related to the alleged sexual encounter were dismissed on jurisdictional grounds and cannot be tried in a California court.According to the report, archives indicate that the couple’s relationship lasted for several years. The following year (June 1975), the two were living together, engaged, and expecting a child.Holcomb originally filed the lawsuit in December 2022, accusing Tyler of sexual assault, sexual battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress. The case will now proceed on the only remaining claim.Last year, Aerosmith canceled the remainder of their AeroVederci tour, sparking concerns about Tyler’s health. In a statement posted on the band’s official website, Tyler wrote: “I give you an A+ for creative speculation, but I definitely didn’t have a heart attack or seizure (unless Joe Perry takes ‘decisive’ lead). I’m sorry to cut the tour short, but I had to have a procedure in the States that only my doctor could do.“He added: “It breaks my heart to leave this tour early. The band has never played better. Just look at the 100,000 people at Rock in Rio. We’ve been to Tel Aviv… Russia… Rio… and everything in between… I think it’s true what they say: ‘When you’re on the pee, life is a pee.'”
