Ryan Reynolds says he’s not rushing back to more Deadpool content, even after the huge success of ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ in 2024. The actor, who helped make the Merc with a Mouth one of the most popular superhero characters on screen, said he’s written down ideas he likes but doesn’t want to move too quickly. His comments come as fans continue to wonder if Deadpool will appear in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, which is less than eight months away from its release.
Deadpool’s MCU future is unclear
Collider reported the update after Steve Weintraub spoke with Reynolds while discussing Season 5 of FX’s “Welcome to Wrexham” docuseries, which arrives May 14. During the interview, Weintraub asked Reynolds if there was anything new he could share about Deadpool’s future.Reynolds confirmed that he is writing, but made it clear that an immediate return is not on the cards. “I have some things written that I love. I don’t know. We’ll figure it out when the time is right. I’m not in a big rush to do anything right now,” she told Collider.The actor also explained why he doesn’t want to overwhelm audiences with new Deadpool projects. “Deadpool works best in scarcity and surprise, so jumping right into it right now is probably something I’m not going to do,” Reynolds said.

Reynolds also praised Marvel and its leadership while talking about his experience with the studio. “I have to say, that Marvel team, those guys have been incredible, all of them, and I’m really, really lucky to have the opportunity to work with them the way I have, as intimately as I have,” he said.Reynolds first played a version of Wade Wilson in ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’.
