Former South African cricketer Sean Pollock Rishabh Pant’s comments after Lucknow Supergiants’ Super Over loss to Kolkata Knight Riders have indirectly blamed the team management. After LSG lost to KKR in the Super Over, Pant said that having too many opinions during the game made it difficult to take a decision. After Mohammad Shami hit a six on the last ball of the innings, the match went into the super over. But then Sunil Narine bowled a good super over for KKR and helped his team win.Two decisions by LSG captain Rishabh Pant came under heavy criticism – to give the last over to Digvesh Rathi, where Rinku Singh hit four consecutive sixes, and to send Nicholas Pooran in the super over.“Too many minds don’t make it easy on the ground,” Pant said after the match.Pollack said such a statement from the captain was not ideal as it seemed to point fingers at the management group.“It’s not really good that it’s coming from the captain because he’s basically saying there’s a lot of people that are giving me information and he’s under the kind of management group that he’s got,” Polk said on CrackBuzz.
He also said that it is difficult to fully assess the situation as outsiders do not know how decisions are made inside the LSG dressing room.Pollock added, “Maybe we don’t know how it works; that’s the problem. You don’t know who makes the final call, you don’t know who sits down with them and gives them an understanding of what they feel, or who they interact with.”Pant, however, also spoke about the need for the entire team to take responsibility after the defeat. In the post-match presentation, he said the team needed a short break to reset and deal with pressure better.“I think we definitely need a break. I think we’re going to be fresh. There’s always pressure, and it’s always going to be a pressure game, but at the same time, we’ve got to find answers from within, not outside. And just keep it simple. We’ve got to be accountable — every guy. Like, it can’t be about one or two guys.” It certainly can’t be about one or two guys, and it certainly needs to be about all people being held accountable. said.
