At the height of his stardom, Vinod Khanna he made a surprising choice, shunned the glamor of Bollywood, joined Osho’s toilet in the United States and took up a simple life, even working as a gardener in Rajneeshpuram. His sudden exit from the film industry created a void, which was soon filled by his meteoric rise Amitabh Bachchan. According to Osho, however, this change affected Khanna greatly.Swami Shailendra Saraswati, Osho’s brother, shared his insights into Khanna’s emotional state during his stay in the township. He recalled that the actor often appeared withdrawn and unhappy, leading many to think he missed his wife and young son. But Osho saw things differently.Osho’s brother said in an interview to Hindi Rush: “He saw that Vinod was sad, and asked the people around him what was bothering him. They said he missed his family. But Osho was not convinced. “No, he doesn’t miss his family. Tell him to come back to India and fight the election against Amitabh Bachchan.”“I never imagined that he had political ambitions,” Saraswati mentioned, “But Osho had such a vision. He saw what even the person himself could not. He knew that in Vinod’s subconscious there was a deep sense of loss, not of family, but of status. He left Bollywood when he was at the top. And in his absence Amita became a Bach star.”He further added, “Vinod’s conscious mind was trying to convince him that he was a noble man who missed his family. But Osho said what he really missed was his position, his place at the top.” He envied Bachchan, and that hurt manifested itself in other ways.”Khanna finally returned to India in the late 1980s, again entering films with renewed determination and delivering several successful projects. He later ventured into politics as a Union minister Atal Bihari Vajpayeethe government of Vinod Khanna passed away on April 27, 2017 after battling advanced bladder cancer, leaving behind a legacy that continues to resonate with generations of filmgoers.
