On working with Mohanlal
Recalling her first experience with Mohanlal, Parvathy spoke to Pinkvilla about the impact it had on her. He worked with him when he was just starting out.“I worked with Mohanlal a long time ago. I was 19; now I’m 38. It’s been almost 20 years. Going back to who I was, he maintained his presence as an actor, which surprised me. Also, Jagathy Sreekumar was there, and I only had one scene.”At that stage he admitted he was still figuring out his craft. This experience helped shape his understanding of acting.“As an actor, I didn’t know at that time what I wanted to be, and what that profession is. I was a child in many ways, and I understood that this was the type of quality I wanted in the end. I am proud to say that now, after 20 years, I am there, where I can go in and out, have those intuitions, and take care of my actors”, he added.
Why Parvathy Thiruvothu calls them “Legends”
Parvathy emphasized that being a legend is not just about stardom. He emphasized the importance of behavior and empathy on set.“I’m so obsessed with taking care of others on set because I’ve seen these ‘legends’ become legends because they’re also better human beings on set. It’s not about the box office, because it doesn’t matter if you’re a terrible person. I think that’s why people talk about some actors as legends, because they walk on set and make it a better place.”About working with MammoottyTalking about Mammootty, he shared a similar experience. He highlighted the aura the cast of Mammootty’s ‘Puzhu’ brings, but also the equanimity with which the big M’s of Mollywood maintain their performances.“With Mammootty too, it was the same experience. I mean, obviously when these people go on a set and there’s a gravitas. They all go in silence and everything. But when they’re in front of you, you have to forget that these are legends. Otherwise, how are we going to act together, how am I supposed to act if I’m looking at them like a slap in the face. I love how these so called legends and superstars let nothing come of them in their profession or the work at hand. I could be a newcomer and in front of the camera, we are the same,” he concluded.
When Parvathy Thiruvothu completed 2 years in cinema
In a separate interaction with TOI City, Parvathy completed two decades in the industry. He spoke about growth, courage and evolutionary perspectives.“I started when I was 17. I was fearless and brave. But over the years, your understanding of bravery has evolved. There’s a wisdom that comes with knowing how tough this industry can be. It’s a constant journey, and I’m proud of the craft I’ve built and the friendships I’ve nurtured – few, but I was significant in film. At the beginning of the year, I felt like a kid again at any stage of life.“
