Jamie Bigg, known to viewers as the Giant in ‘Gladiators’, has announced his departure from the show after the current series has finished. The professional bodybuilder and former firefighter from Ilkeston, Derbyshire has been part of the show since its return in 2024, becoming one of its most recognizable faces. His departure, however, seems anything but straightforward. The 6ft 5in star has made it clear that the decision wasn’t entirely hers.Taking to Instagram, Bigg confirmed he would not be returning for Season 4, and a spokesperson for the show also confirmed the news, saying: “After three incredible series, Giant is leaving Gladiators. We want to thank him for everything he’s contributed to the show and wish him the best for the future.”
What Giant had to say about his departure
In a heartfelt message, Bigg addressed his fans directly and didn’t shy away from suggesting there was more to his departure than a simple decision.“To my Gladiator family. I want to tell you all that I will not be returning for season 4 of the show. Being a Gladiator has been one of the greatest honors of my life. Being in that field, listening to people, representing strength, resilience and being a role model is something I will carry with me forever,” she wrote.“What I want to make clear is that this was not my decision to leave. I was faced with an opportunity that did not match my values. And if you know me, you know this: I stand by my people, and I stand by what I believe in. That’s what being a role model means to me. I’m proud of everything I gave to the show and the person who made me grateful in the end. It’s just the beginning. Stand up,” he added.
