Jake Reiner, son of a deceased Hollywood director Rob Reiner and Michele Reiner, paid emotional tribute to their parents in a lengthy statement Friday. In an Insagram post, she poured her heart out about dealing with grief since losing her parents on Dec. 14 to the stabbing death of their son, Nick Reiner.The post, in which Jake shares his story of learning about his parents’ deaths, comes four months after the shocking murder case rocked Hollywood. Speaking only about himself and making it clear that his sister, Romy, will share his story, “one week today I will be approaching my first birthday without my parents. I consider myself lucky to have had them by my side for the last 34 years.” In the last four months, I have learned a lot about grief.’Sharing a picture of her parents, she recalled the day she learned of her parents’ death. In a post titled ‘The evening of December 14th’, he revealed that he was at Union Station when he received the call from his sister. He wrote: “I got a call from my sister Romy saying that our father was dead. A few minutes later, she called again saying that our mother was also dead.”Sharing her story, she wrote: “So much was stolen from me that day. My parents won’t be at my wedding, they won’t hold my future grandchild, and they won’t get the successful career I’m still looking for. It breaks my heart and makes me angry at the same time.Nothing can prepare you for what it feels like to lose both parents at once. It is very devastating to understand. I still wake up every morning having to convince myself that, no, it’s not a dream. This is truly my living nightmare.I can’t even begin to put myself in their parents’ shoes, but one thing I keep coming back to is how scared they must have been. They were the last people in the world who deserved what happened to them. The three of them deserved to be loved, to be respected and, above all, to be recognized for how much they gave to the world.For me, my parents are at the center of my life. They are my guiding lights, the foundation of who I am as a human being, and the most productive people I have ever met.Not many people have the luxury of being the best parents, the best mom, or the best dad, but I do. Your love for my brother and my sister is truly unconditional.And the love they have for each other in marriage is something I’ve always looked to as the standard for what a successful relationship looks like.”
Nick Reiner impeached with first degree murder
Jake’s brother Nick faces two counts of first-degree murder in the double slaying that rocked Hollywood days before Christmas.Nick Reiner was arrested on December 14th when the bodies of his filmmaker father and photographer mother Michele Singer Reiner were found in their home in the upscale Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles.Prosecutors said 79-year-old Rob Reiner — who directed blockbuster hits including “When Harry Met Sally” and “A Few Good Men” — and his wife, 70, were stabbed to death.Nick Reiner, who remains in jail without bail, was ordered to return to court on April 29.If convicted as charged, Nick Reiner could face life in prison without parole, or the death penalty, although California does not routinely impose the death penalty.Nick Reiner, who lived in an inn owned by his parents, attended a party at comedian Conan O’Brien’s house with his parents on Dec. 13, where some attendees said he acted erratically.
