SSC Stenographer Grade C & D Exam 2026 Application Window Opens Notification Officially Released Today.

SSC Stenographer 2026: Staff Selection Commission has released the notification for Stenographer Grade C and D Exam 2026, with the online application process starting from April 24. In the recruitment drive, vacancies will be filled in Ministries, Departments, Organizations and their attached and subordinate offices of the Government of India.As per the schedule, candidates can submit applications till May 15, while the last date for fee payment is May 16. A correction window will be available from May 20 to May 21, and the computer-based exam is scheduled to be held between July and August 2026.Application Process and Important DatesApplications are to be submitted through official SSC website or mobile application only. The last date and time for submission is May 15 at 23:00, and candidates are advised to complete the process early to avoid last-minute technical issues due to heavy traffic.Candidates have to complete the registration once on the new portal, as the earlier registration on the previous platform will not be valid. Posts and Eligibility CriteriaThe commission has identified around 731 vacancies, with post-wise and category-wise figures to be published later. This recruitment is open to candidates with shorthand skills who have passed class 12th or equivalent examination from a recognized board or university by 1st August 2026.For Grade C posts, candidates should be between 18 to 30 years of age, while for Grade D posts the age limit is 18 to 27 years, calculated as on 1 August 2026. Age relaxation provisions apply to certain categories, including SC, ST, OBC, PwBD and ex-servicemen, as per government rules.Exam pattern and verificationThe examination will be conducted as an open competitive examination for direct recruitment to Group B and Group C posts in computer based mode. Only candidates with shorthand skills will be eligible to appear in the examination.The documents will be verified by the concerned user departments after the declaration of final results. Candidates have to produce original certificates along with mark sheets and proof of educational qualification, failing which their candidature will be cancelled.Helpline and additional instructionsIn case of difficulties during the application process, candidates can contact the toll-free helpline number 1800 309 3063. The Commission has reiterated that only online applications will be accepted and incomplete submissions will not be entertained.The application correction facility will allow the candidates to modify the submitted form within the specified window after paying the applicable charges. The Commission has clarified that State-wise or Zone-wise vacancies are not maintained, and the selection will be made as per the notified rules and requirements of the participating departments.
