New Delhi: India got off to a strong start to their Thomas Cup campaign by beating Canada 3-1 in their opening group match on Friday. Despite the early setback, the team bounced back quickly with solid performances in both singles and doubles to overcome the tie and seal a comfortable victory.India were on the back foot after Lakshya Sen lost a tough contest to Victor Lai. But the momentum changed when the experienced doubles pair of Satvik Sairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty stepped in. They dominated their match, winning comfortably and bringing India back into the competition with authority.From there, the young players ensured India stayed ahead. Ayush Shetty put in a confident performance to beat Brian Yang in straight games to give India the lead. Soon after, the doubles pair of Hariharan Amsakaronen and MR Arjun wrapped up the tie with a convincing win, making the final match unnecessary.With the result already decided, Kadambi Srikanth was ready to play a dead rubber.
