Kajol Recently, she shared insights into her journey as a parent, and opened up about the evolving relationship she shares with her daughter, Nysa, amid the challenges of growing up in a world driven by social media. Nysa, Kajol’s elder son and Ajay DevgnHe has a younger brother, Yug. In a recent interview, Kajol discussed how she handles the immense exposure and social pressure young girls face today, and whether Nysa is looking for advice. Reflecting on their journey, she spoke about the different stages that helped form their bond.

Speaking to Lilly Singh, the actress said, “I talk to her a lot. I talk to her. I talk to him through things. It’s a relationship we had to build. And we built it, just… I mean, the hormones kicked in and he was 12 years old. And so it was, we were like everywhere. We were fighting and we were both irrational at times. Sometimes we were both illogical.’

Kajol also reflected on her conscious shift in her approach to parenting, explaining how she decided to handle situations more calmly and thoughtfully. Kajol shared, “I stood up and said, I am an adult. I should be more rational. And so I decided that I will not fight with him so much. I will try to talk to him as much as I can. Talk to him until he starts listening to me and starts working with him. And so, we both fought for almost three years. We were both, I can’t hear you. I don’t want to talk to you. But in the end, they became conversations, long conversations.’

Next, he said, things began to change when he moved from giving instructions to listening. She shared, “I realized it was more about me sitting down and listening to him. It wasn’t so much talking. It was just giving himself space to talk and listen. And that made the biggest difference. Once I realized it wasn’t about trying to tell him how to do things. He was going to figure it out on his own. He just needed me to sit and listen as much as I could. So that was my biggest learning as a parent. So touch wood, we’re good today.’
