‘Beef’, the acclaimed drama about small skirmishes turning into full-blown brawls, is back for a second season. This time, instead of two strangers ruining each other’s lives due to road rage, the mayhem centers on two unhappy couples locked in class warfare at an upscale Los Angeles country club. With a star-studded new cast, a South Korean billionaire, a morally questionable plastic surgeon, and a couple of young workers caught in the middle, Season 2 looks set to be just as delicious as the first.

Oscar Isaac and Carey Mulligan like Josh and Lindsay

At the heart of Season 2 is Josh, played by Oscar Isaac, the CEO of an upscale LA country club who covets the wealth and prestige of the clientele he serves. He is married to Lindsay, played by Carey Mulligan, an interior decorator who resents her husband for abandoning her shared dreams. One night after a fundraiser, the couple’s argument turns violent, and they realize they’re being watched.Mulligan is a three-time Academy Award nominee for her work in ‘An Education’, ‘Promising Young Woman’ and ‘Maestro’. She is also known for playing Daisy Buchanan in Baz Luhrmann’s 2013 adaptation of ‘The Great Gatsby’. Isaac is a Hollywood powerhouse, having played everything from a rebel in “Star Wars” to an eccentric tech billionaire in “Ex Machina” and most recently gained fame for Guillermo del Toro’s “Frankenstein.” The two have previously worked together on the Coen Brothers’ 2013 folk film ‘Inside Llewyn Davis’.

Josh and Lindsay’s violent confrontation is witnessed by Ashley and Austin, two country club employees sent to return the boss’s forgotten wallet. Newly engaged and optimistic but increasingly concerned about their financial future, they begin to think about how they can use what they see to their advantage.Spaeny has notable credits to her name including ‘Mare of Easttown’, the Priscilla Presley biopic ‘Priscilla’, ‘Alien: Romulus’ and the ‘Knives Out’ sequel ‘Wake Up Dead Man’. Melton, formerly of ‘Riverdale’, has received critical acclaim for starring opposite Julianne Moore and Natalie Portman in ‘May December’ and ‘Warfare’.
