Hailing from Delhi as an outsider, Sanya Malhotra carved her own path in showbiz independently. However, mastering the art of rejecting uncomfortable patterns was his biggest challenge. “With time I learned to say no. Now, I say no quite easily. But it took me some time. Na bolne se pehle mujhe panic attack aa jaata tha (I used to have panic attacks before I said no). I was wondering, how do I say no? I would worry if I do that because I might not get a job after that. And even if I somehow did, I would carry that guilt for months after months. Apart from no more options, mujhe yeh darr lagta tha ki unko bura lag gaya hoga. (I was afraid he might be hurt),” he told News18.
Sanya Malhotra’s steadfast mantra
The actor now follows the mantra of being polite but firm. “You have to understand that a film is a medium for a director. But you, as an actor, can definitely give your suggestions. Sometimes they listen to you and sometimes they don’t. But I learned the hard way that if I don’t say no, it means I’m only living their dream and doing things their way instead of living my own life,” he said.
