Timothée Chalamet may have faced severe backlash for his comment on Ballet and Opera, but his opinion seems to have done something better for these art forms. It is evident that in a recent interview, the head of the Royal Ballet and London Opera, Alex Beard, thanked Timothée Chalamet for giving their ticket sales an “immediate boost”.
The head of the RBO thanked Timothée Chalamet
Speaking to the Times, the head of the RBO, Alex Beard, described the public reaction as “fantastic” and said he was pleased his organization had not followed similar organizations in reprimanding Chalamet.
“I thought it was important not to give Chalamet some kind of cheesy-toity answer,” he said. “We just said, ‘Look at what we’re doing, mate,’ for example, most of our audience is in their 20s and 30s.“And you know what? Our post got two and a half million engagements and half a million shares, on Instagram alone. And our ticket sales got an immediate boost. So cheers, Timmy!”
The reaction comes after Timothée Chalamet’s controversial comment
The RBO chief’s reaction comes after the ‘Marty Supreme’ star expressed his views in an interview with Matthew McConaughey in February, after which he faced severe backlash. At the time, the Oscar-nominated actor, who was promoting his film, expressed his delight that he was working in film, rather than opera or ballet, “where it’s like, ‘Hey, keep this thing alive, even though nobody cares anymore.’Chalamet, whose mother and grandmother both worked in ballet, was quick to add: “All respect to all the ballet and opera people there.” A few days later, Chalamet’s comment became one of the most controversial moments of his career and received severe public reactions.
