John Wells on how Noah Wyle got “ER.”
The 69-year-old producer recently appeared on an episode of the ‘A Lot More’ podcast where he talked about working with Noah Wyle when he was much younger and co-starred on ‘ER.’ Wyle was 22-23 on the show at the time he was fired. He revealed that the role had actually already been cast. “There was a wonderful actor, who goes by no name, who did very well, but we thought he had the role.” However, they were very impressed with Wyle when he walked into his audition. Wells recalled that the Emmy-winning actress was late to audition for the role. Sharing what it was like watching the actor audition, Wells revealed, “We brought him back two or three times, and every time he was different and every time he was better, and he had new ideas. And I said, ‘Oh, there’s someone who’s actually an actor.’ He got the job at the last minute. He was 22, I think at the time, and he’s waiting in West Hollywood.”Wells is also currently working on ‘The Pitt’, alongside fellow ‘ER’ alum R. Scott Gemmill.
