Hansika Motwani Sohael Khaturiya has opened up about navigating one of the most difficult phases of her life following her split from businessman, and revealed how her family became her strongest pillar as she battled her mental health struggles.
‘They saw me in a very dark space’
Talking about her lowest phase, Hansika shared that her mother Mona Motwani and brother Prashant Motwani stood by her when she was struggling emotionally. She told Haterrfly: “My brother and I are very close. He supported me the whole time, he was strong. Both my mum and my brother told me, ‘If you’re not comfortable, don’t go.'”He added that he witnessed a side of him that his family had never seen before. “They’ve seen me in a very dark space. I’m usually a very happy person, so seeing them like that was disturbing. They told me, whatever you decide, we’re with you.”The actress also recalled a powerful piece of advice from her mother that shaped the way she privately dealt with the situation.“My mother once told me, ‘Your pain can’t be someone else’s entertainment.’ So no one knows when I’m drowning. Once you get past that, what people say doesn’t matter.”
Therapy helped him heal
Hansika revealed that the last two years have been devoted to rebuilding her mental health, a journey that began after a close friend encouraged her to seek professional help.“For the last two years, I’ve been focusing on my mental health. I was in a very dark space and I didn’t understand mental health at all. My friend got me out of that phase. He said, ‘Let’s try therapy.’Calling the therapy transformative, she added: “It’s been two years now, and I love it. It’s helped me become a better person and taught me how to deal with things I didn’t know how to handle before.”
The wedding “shook all the pillars”
Hansika also reflected on her separation, saying that she does not regret her decision to leave. He said he is now in a happier place, adding that it is better to walk away from something that is not working than to continue to suffer.Whatever marriage meant to her—companionship, stability, or growth—Hansika admitted that she was a combination of all three, and that everything was shaken.“All three…how can it be one? Sab hil gaya tha (all the pillars shook).”

What happens between two people, only they know. The third person can’t really comment.”
