In a video of the actor’s chat with a reporter at the festival, Yash spoke candidly about his elaborate costume. The group donned an elaborate gold and black costume, including a large gold crown, body armor, shoulder and arm cuffs. Sharing his insights on his costume, Yash admitted that while wearing it made him feel “strong”, it was physically tough as well. She shared: “I’ve never done anything like this before. Wearing these types of costumes and the crown, it was heavy, I have to admit. We were very specific with the look and after the real look, it ended up being very heavy. I had to take it off in between (shooting). But it was amazing.”The actor added that the outfit played a key role in helping him embody the villainous character. He said: “Once you put on the costume, you start to feel the character. I always have that thing. When I’m dressed up and I stand in front of the camera, that’s when I hit the mark. With that Ravana outfit, I really felt like I was that person at that time. It gives you that power to go out. It was a very special experience.”
Yash is getting into Ravana’s mindset
Discussing his preparation for the role, Yash said he focused on understanding Ravana’s mindset. “I’m thinking about what must have been going through his mind when he was doing these things. What’s behind it? How would he convince himself? So it was a very fascinating process for me, just to understand.”He added that director Nitesh Tiwari helped him explore the deeper layers of the character. “We all knew it, but in this story, in this version, there is much more to the character of Ravana. So you can understand it in a different aspect in this story.”
Yash in the ten-headed depiction of Ravana in the Ramayana
Talking about the film’s rendition of Ravana’s ten-headed artwork, Yash expressed a fresh and unconventional approach. “It’s a very interesting interpretation that we have in the film. I don’t want to reveal it,” he said, adding: “When you see it, that will be one of the most exciting parts of the film; how we’re showing that he had ten heads, it’s very interesting.”Elaborating further, the actor said, “I think it’s also his ability as an individual. He was the best at many things. He was very good at everything he did, so that’s also a way of saying he had ten heads. That’s basically the representation of the ten-headed image you always see of Ravana.”
