SSLC and Class 12 exams in the Gulf region have been canceled in view of the ongoing conflict in West Asia, Kerala Minister V Sionkutty said on Thursday.Shivan Kutty said that the results of 633 students unable to appear in the Secondary School Leaving Certificate examination in the Gulf region will be prepared based on their marks in the model or term examinations, whichever is applicable, with specified percentage of waste marks.In the case of 592 students appearing for the second year higher secondary examinations in the Gulf region, the minister said the marks obtained in the first year will be carried forward with the continuous evaluation (CE) in the second year and the practical marks obtained in the second year.Students who traveled to the Gulf from Kerala for any purpose and were stranded there will also be eligible for the same benefit as those whose exams were canceled due to the dispute.However, they will have their original hall tickets, visas, and passports verified by their school principals, who will also verify the exams missed during their stay in the region.He added that if the SSLC and second year higher secondary students in the Gulf are not satisfied with their results, they will have the option to appear when the improvement exams are conducted.He said SSLC results are expected to be declared in the third week of May, while second year higher secondary results are likely to be declared on May 25.The minister also said that grievance redressal mechanism related to continuous evaluation system in schools would be strengthened.He said complaints have been received that teachers often assign marks without fully understanding the objectives of the system.To ensure transparency and comprehensiveness in continuous assessment at the school level, assessment scores should be displayed on school notice boards, he said, adding that complaints in this regard should be investigated by the school level monitoring committee.Shivankutty also announced a study support program for students of classes 5 to 9 in government schools who have not secured at least 30 percent marks in the written examinations.Detailed instructions in this regard have been issued to the Director General Education and the program will be held from 20 to 27 April 2026.After that, special examinations will be conducted at the school level, and the promotion list will be published.
