Gulshan Groverand who is currently promoting his next series Matka King, believes that cinema is witnessing a full-circle moment—with past trends, characters and storytelling styles making a strong comeback.Talking about how older trends are making a comeback, Grover noted that nostalgia is shaping today’s fashion as well as movies.“Nowadays we are wearing bell bottoms, everything is coming back. So many wonderful songs are coming back as remakes. Performances are coming back,” he told India Today.
reminding Shatrughan Sinha ‘s Dhurandhar note
The actor also shared an anecdote from a dinner with industry veterans including Shatrughan Sinha, Rakesh Roshan and Shashi Ranjan.“Two days back, Shatrughan Sinha was there, who has played strong, powerful anti-hero characters, Rakesh Roshan, Shashi Ranjan – we were having dinner. So I came in late, and he (Sinha) said, ‘I saw Dhurandhar. Gulshan Grover, it was a film you should have said Grover’.”He even revealed how he envisioned Sinha in a pivotal role.“He (Sinha) said how wonderful it would have been if I had played Rehman Dakait, Akshaye Khannathe role of So I said, I agree with that too. The public also agrees.”
“Those old characters are back”
Referring to Dhurandhar, Grover emphasized how elements of outdated cinema are making a comeback.“I’m giving this reference for how many of those period-looking characters have been brought back. Even some of the sets, drums and everything that was in all the movies have been brought back. It was the era, and it didn’t show any progress,” the actor added.
