New Delhi: India’s women’s boxing team performed brilliantly at the Asian Boxing Championship 2026 to top the medal table with 10 medals, including four golds. It was a dominant performance, with every member of the squad returning home with a medal, highlighting the strength and consistency of the team under coach Santiago Nieva.The gold medal run started with Meenakshi (48kg), who won 5-0 against Mongolia’s Nomendri Enkh Amgalan.

Preeti (54kg) claimed gold with a 5-0 win over a much more experienced opponent, Chinese Taipei’s Huang Hsiao-wen. Priya (60kg) added another top finish with an emphatic 3-0 win over North Korea’s Won In-gyong, while Arundhati (70kg) won India’s fourth gold medal with a 4:1 victory over Kazakhstan’s Bakit Sedish.India also bagged two silver medals with Jasmin (57kg) and Alfian Pathan (80+kg), both finishing as runners-up after strong campaigns. With four bronze medals, it ensured a total of 10 medals for the women’s team, making them the most successful team in the competition.

Mixed results in the men’s division

While the women dominated, the men’s team had mixed results but still showed promise. Vishwanath Suresh (50 kg) reached the final with a 5:0 win over Jordan’s Hawtifah Ashish. Sachin (60 kg) also advanced to the semi-finals after a 4:1 victory over Thailand’s Sakda Ruamtham.However, several others fell short. Akash, Lokesh, Narendra, and Harsh Chaudhary all lost their matches against tough opponents from Uzbekistan, China, and Tajikistan.India confirmed the highest medal count of the tournament and look set to finish strongly in the men’s final with more chances.
